Our finca

Finca el Rabilargo is named after the azure winged magpie, one of the most characteristic birds of Extremadura. The finca was built in 2007 and consists of three buildings; two holiday homes and one large building in which, among other things, the dining room can be found. Like many houses in the Spanish countryside, we are not connected to general facilities. The finca works on solar enery and we also have a water source of our own with good quality water. Around the houses, we have internet by means of a satellite.

The finca is situated in the very centre of Extremadura, in the triangle of the historical cities of Mérida, Cáceres and Trujillo. The historical basilica of Guadalupe is also nearby, as is the nature parc of Cornalvo and many by bird watchers well-known areas such as Monfragüe, the Serena and the steppes between Cáceres and Trujillo. They can be reached easily because there is a good connection to the two motorways. Elsewhere on this website there is more information to be found about these places.

Our finca is 1,7 hectare large, at the foot of the Sierra de Montánchez, a granite mountain range in the central area of Extremadura. The terrain is partly sloping and at the back it rises more steeply. When you make use of the seat on the mountain, you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
On our terrain we have a swimming pool of 6 by 9 meters with a terrace. There are several places to sit to be found on the grounds. You can therefore always choose whether you would like to sit in the sun or in the shade; with company or on your own.

Especially in spring, our grounds are a sea of flowers with many butterflies fluttering everywhere. Many special bird species you can see and photograph from our terraces.
Of course, you can park your car easily on the grounds.
All facilities on the finca can be used freely by our guests.
Our finca is registered as Casa Rural. This is a Spanish bed-and-breakfast in the country-side. Finca el Rabilargo is classified with 3 stars (out of a maximum of 5). The stars give an impression of the facilities that can be found on the finca.
